During this chat, Munawar opened up about how one’s journey should matter more than its success, the cancel culture on the Internet and his advice to fans.

Munawar Faruqui on how journey matters more than success

Munawar Faruqui shares that when you reach a certain pinnacle in life, you realise that it’s the journey that matters. He said, “So I have realized that when you reach a certain position in life, you need to know how the internet works and how fame works. It is always when you are the underdog when you are growing, that’s when everyone will come to support you then. But when you are very successful that is when you will notice that people around you tend to criticise you more often. When you grow, you realise it’s the journey that teaches you more, even fans know that you learn when you start from somewhere. Possibly, only he knows how he bought his first mike when he just earned two dollars.”

Further added, “When you are an underdog you get support from people. And when you are potentially successful you face criticism from people. So once you are successful, you realise that your journey has made you what you are today. But if you forget your journey after becoming successful your audience will also forget what were your hardships. And this could lead to you being forgotten by your audience. So the journey is to never forget from where you started.”

Munawar Faruqui on cancel culture on the Internet

Munawar also opened up about how everyone has the right to accept the content they like and criticise that which they don’t. He said, “I feel when we call ourselves an audience we have forgotten who has what power. Now according to democracy, it means that everyone has equal powers. Right, so you have the power to criticise someone, you have the power to refuse someone from saying something. So how do you have these powers? You have these powers because the person in front also has the same amount of power as you do. The power you have to say something to someone is the same power he has to say something to you.”

Further adding, “So it is a very debatable thing about what is what, and as far as responsible society countries are concerned. There is a place for everything, every section where people will find something that is wrong, they might feel it is against the culture.”
